FAQs
01
Why DIYLaw?
Because we believe that access to justice and legal services is a human right. DIYLaw seeks to educate the public by demystifying basic legal documents and processes. We put general information in your hands, so you can make an informed choice on whether you can prepare your own necessary legal documents, or engage a lawyer to assist you.
02
How do I know if the template I am using is sufficient or ‘good enough’?
DIYLaw’s templates have been reviewed and previously used by lawyers. However, not all matters are alike. DIYlaw is not meant to provide anyone with legal advice for their particular matters. You must assess for yourself whether yours is a standard matter, and seek legal advice if you are not certain.
03
Do I still need a lawyer?
You may. You should refer your matter to a lawyer if you are unsure about your legal document, particularly if the facts and the law are complicated. You are free to show DIYLaw’s templates to the lawyer when seeking advice.
04
Where can I find a lawyer?
You may find a lawyer through the Malaysian Bar’s website here. https://legaldirectory.malaysianbar.org.my
05
Who is DIYLaw meant for?
It is for anyone who wants to take charge of their own life. To educate and empower themselves. To equip themselves with information, if and when they speak to a lawyer.
